True Heroes: A Dime A Dozen

Description

When he finally moves out to the city, nineteen-year-old Zachary Widrow wants nothing more than to find a good job and become someone he can be proud of. But before he even has the chance, a new fate is thrust upon him: save humanity or die trying! 

Told of the coming of a world-destroying entity known as Malum, he is thrust into the lead of the newly formed “True Heroes,” a group of five magic users prophesied to one day prevent the apocalypse. Battling creatures of the night, tracking down dangerous criminals, and learning the unpredictable art of magic quickly become the new normal. With each death-defying trial pushing him further past his limits, he is constantly reminded of the question he’d been too scared to ask: “Why me?"

Inspired by books such as John Bierce’s Into The Labyrinth and Chelsea Cambell’s The Rise of Renegade X, True Heroes is my first attempt at a novel-length project. It's fast and frenetic action built the foundation for all of my future work, and it's themes of overcoming self-doubt still resonate today.
